The man who changed the world of business

I guess you all must have seen “Guru” movie and you know the story was implicitly based on the life of the late Dhirubhai Ambani. Through the movie, we got a glimpse of his childhood, hard work, struggle & success.
Let us have a look at his journey of transforming the World of business.
The beginning –
Born in a middle-class family in Gujarat. Since childhood, he had an eagerness to work & make money. He started earning money by setting up Bhajia stalls at school fairs. He was an intelligent, visionary, and street-smart kid but didn’t have that much interest in studies.
At the age of 16, he along with his cousin moved to Yemen and there he worked as a Gas station attended.
At Yemen, he learned about currency trading by the people he met at the port.
First attempt towards business -
While working at Aden, he also worked for Shell refinery and there he started dreaming of setting up his own oil refinery in India.

In 1958, he came to Mumbai from Aden, he came back with a dream of starting his own business.
In the ’50s there was a huge demand for polyester fabric in India & spices in foreign countries. He then thought to start his business of export and import of spices and polyester thread. The company name was “Reliance Commercial Corporation.” They started producing nylon fabric under the “Vimal” brand and it became one of the most popular brands of that time, all of India was wearing it.
Through the Vimal story, we learn that –
In business, you must take the risk (without taking a risk in business you cannot succeed,
One should have good marketing knowledge to sell its product in the market & also to make it a renowned brand.
Lastly, Be optimistic in life.
Later, Reliance diversified into energy, power, IT, retail, telecommunication, and infrastructure.

2. Age is just a number – If you want to start a business at the age of 20s or late 50s it does not matter till the time you have focus and that determination to achieve your goal.
